General Information

SMASH is a fire control system by Smartshooter, an Israeli company. It is an electro-optic rifle sight that has a firing computer. The sight can be fitted on the barrel of any rifle and is installed on the soldier’s personal weapon. It enables the system to lock on and track targets through image processing based on Artificial Intelligence. An algorithm-based processor selects the moment to fire and ensures a hit regardless of the user’s abilities or experience. SMASH has anti-drone capabilities.

The SMASH HOPPER is a light-weight Remote Controlled Weapon Station (RCWS) using the SMASH fire control technologies.

Use by Israeli Forces:

Smash sights, also known as “Dagger” (“פגיון”), are in use in the various infantry brigades of the Israeli military since 2018. Remote Controlled Crowd Dispersal System by Smart Shooter is installed over Israeli military checkpoints and in heavily populated areas in the occupied West Bank.^[12]Haaretz, Israeli Army Installs Remote-control Crowd Dispersal System at Hebron Flashpoint, 24.09.2022 The AI-controlled machine guns were installed on a military watchtower overlooking Aida Refugee Camp, Bethlehem, Al-Arub Refugee Camp, Hebron, and in Hebron city. Two Remote-controlled guns were installed atop a watchtower with surveillance cameras overlooking the al-Arub refugee camp. Gaza 2023-2024

Smash fire control system has been widely and extensively used by the Israeli military infantry units in Gaza. Between November 2023 and February 2024, the sights were used by the Israeli Ground Forces and Infantry Units in Gaza, and by the commando brigade during military raids in northern Gaza. Among the units identified as using the sight are the “Maglan” special unit and the 51st battalion of the “Golani” infantry brigade.
